Fourth swim completed, Five continents united

Marcos Diaz completed the last swim of his journey joing Europe to the American Continent, from Big Diomede Island in Russia to Little Diomedein Alaska.

The swim started on Friday, August 27 (Russian time) and ended on Thursday, August 26 (American time) with a duration of one hour, five minutes and 34 seconds and a temperature between 1.8 and 3 degrees Celsius. Marcos had to swim very close to his team’s boat, given the number of sea lions and orcas that inhabit these waters. Upon finishing his swim Marcos had difficulty talking because of the extreme low water temperature and said: "This was the hardest swim of my career."

With this fourth swim Marcos has successfully managed to unite the five continents of the world to call attention to the Millennium Development Goals and show us that after all we are not far apart.

Join your voice to Marcos’ by signing the book that will be delivered to Ban Ki-Moon and world leaders in the United Nations Summit in September 2010.

This swim belongs to all of us. Let's join together and demand world our leaders to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
