Marcos Diaz completes its third journey of Swim Across the Continents, successfully uniting Africa with Europe by swim.

The ultra distance swimmer, Marcos Diaz, was able to unite Europe to Africa through the Strait of Gibraltar in a total time of 2 hours 41 minutes, exceeding the team’s expectations.

Augusto Garcia, manager, explains: "Originally the swim was going to take place from Morocco to Spain, but at the last minute we had to change the course because of heavy fog off the coast of Morocco, which forced us to start the swim from Tarifa."

"Although the main objective was to unite the continents, we also had the opportunity of accomplishing a really fast swim, completed in 20 minutes and breaking our own record from 2005."

With this journey the Dominican athlete accomplishes the third stage of the Swim Across the Continents and directs their goal towards the Bering Strait, where he will join Europe to the American continent, in a fourth journey, scheduled for late August.

Marcos Expresses himself: "It was a very special journey, not didn’t anticipate or sought a fast swim, but we maintained a very fast pace and accomplishing one of the best records in the Strait. The team managed incredibly, marked a great route and a perfect strategy, I just happened followed team orders."

A great crowd supported and celebrated the Dominican swimmer's gesture and his desire to globally promote the importance of meeting the Millennium Development Goals in all nations of the world.
